I am not the biggest fan of Bob Dylan, but he has some of the greatest music of all time. Unlike Dylan I truely believe that his writings can come to him in thought, but for myself writings would be easy for some ideas and others not so much. Writing has alawys been about the topic for me. I am good at giving a good debate that I am passion about, but sometimes its really hard for me to write just about a simple topic. I often find myself clueless and not be able to write anything. However, I believe that everyone has their strong points about writing. While others will struggle. My grandmother used to always to write your best, even if you aren’t the best. Having her understand that I am not the best at some things, helped me not to be afraid to write. Sometimes you are afraid that you may say the right or wrong thing on a writing topic. Anyway you look at it, my writing just comes at thought, not from the heart.

I typically don’t a specific place that I call to write at. I just go to my laptop and sit in my recliner and type away. Often with two toddlers the time is limited during the day. So I write my thoughts at night when I am “toddler free”. It’s often hard to write foro me because I am a parent of two young children. I know it sounds like an excuse but at times I have so much on my mindmy thoughts over lap what I’m trying to say. Which I feel like an idiot saying that? Anyone else feel like they are clueless from time to time. I have had alot of that this semester? I believe thats t he perk of being a young parent and still wanting to be the best that you can.

When I was younger I was eager to join the workforce and figure out what I wanted to do in life. However that still remains a mystery until I finish school ultimately. Furthermore in the workforce I was able to experience workmanship and customer service which is very important to me. However as I got older I realized in the the workforce what is important to me is customer satisfation.

When I go out in town to do my daily task I watch people on how they associate themselves with people and how they present great customer service. I have had alot of attitude here with customer service and its aggravating. Despite the fact we are in a military town, it shouldn’t make a difference. One of my biggest complaints that I have had is bad waitresses; its like a pet peeve, customer satisfaction is important. It is important to anyone to have standards, to want the best, be the best and sometimes understand that you can’t be perfect. It is not easy for me.

I don’t expect alot of people, but I do expect to be treated with respect and to make sure that people listen to what I have to say (taking food orders ). The way to resolve the issues that I deal with is to talk with the person or people that I have an issue with to explain my problem and to find a resolution. I want people to succeed in life, not to make a mockery of it.

Science VS. God, should be contemplate that they can co-exist in our society today. According to Time Magazine an article was published between two highly sought after scientist to prove their points on their subject. First, Mr. Richard Dawkins an accomplished author and a outstanding Professor at the lucrative Oxford University, has published many article disputing his findings arguments that God is a myth of our figurative imagination and creative theory subside from one another; and Dr. Frances Collins another creative scientist and devout Christian who is the Director the National Human Genome Research Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. We look at both gentlemen in a way of wrong and right. However, as scientist they are looked up in a very highly lucrative society and their views of God vs. Science is very different in tone.

For myself I have never been a devoted person to god, but have been spiritually committed to myself. I don’t believe that God created the world, but has left that idea open for many to wonder for thousands of years. The theory of how the world comes reminds me of my own marriage, you can’t predicate what the future holds. Only time will tell.

However when Dr. Francis Collins is asked the question whether or not if he believes that Science is compatible with the Christian Faith, he states “Yes. God’s existence is either true or not. But calling it a scientific question implies that the tools of science can provide the answer. From my perspective, God cannot be completely contained within nature, and therefore God’s existence is outside of science’s ability to really weigh in.” In my opinion that is a well stated answer, but everyone has their own opinion. I believe for anyone to say this or that event will happen because of God is extremely irrelevant, but for those who do believe they have their own opinion.

Of Dr. Dawkins was asked a question by Dr. Collins, “You think Darwin’s theory of evolution does more than simplify the Genesis story.” He replies, “Yes. For centuries the most powerful argument for God’s existence from the physical world was the so-called argument from the design: Living things are so beautiful and elegant and so apparently purposeful, they could have only been made by an intelligent designer. But Darwin provided a simpler explanation. His way is a gradual, incremental improvement starting from very simple beginnings and working up step by tiny incremental step to more complexity, more elegance, more adaptive perfection. Each step is not too improbable for us to countenance, but when you add them up cumulatively over millions of years, you get these monsters of improbability, like the human brain and the rain forest. It should warn us against ever again assuming that because something is complicated, God must have done it.”

Although there points were argumentative it makes you wonder what to believe either God or Science. But Professor Dawkins and Dr. Collins did agree on several issues during their discussion which was shocking, but as scientist who knows what the future holds.

WEBBLOG 3: A TALE OF TWO ARGUMENTS

ENG 112

The New York Times writer Peter Singer brings imagination and wonder to the wondering eye of people in this idealistic theory that people should choose the right or wrong path in an unearthly dilemma in “The Singer Solution to World Poverty”. For example, in the Brazilian Film “Central Station”, Peter Singer states that “Dora is a retired schoolteacher who makes ends meet by sitting at the station writing letters for illiterate people. Suddenly she has an opportunity to pocket $1,000. All she has to do is persuade a homeless 9-year-old boy to follow her to an address she has been given. (She is told he will be adopted by wealthy foreigners.) She delivers the boy, gets the money, spends some of it on a television set and settles down to enjoy her new acquisition. Her neighbor spoils the fun, however, by telling her that the boy was too old to be adopted —he will be killed and his organs sold for transplantation. Perhaps Dora knew this all along, but after her neighbor’s plain speaking, she spends a troubled night. In the morning Dora resolves to take the boy back.

Suppose Dora had told her neighbor that it is a tough world, other people have nice new TV’s too, and if selling the kid is the only way she can get one, well, he was only a street kid. She would then have become, in the eyes of the audience, a monster. She redeems herself only by being prepared to bear considerable risks to save the boy.” However that is not the question should Dora have just left the child to follow her to an unknown address and feel the guilt of having money for a change to make her happy. I would have told her that she is a buffoon.

Then Dora deals with the challenges of an intrusive neighbor who states the child is too old for adoption. To be quite honest that was really ignorant. Furthermore, Singer states “that an ethical point about the essay that the distinction between a Brazilian woman who sells a child to peddlers for money to buy a television; or she can donate the money to a charity that helps children in need.”

Then Singer next example states about a theory of a man, Bob, and his beloved Bugatti vintage car. He decides to take his pride and joy for a ride to the nearest train track and parks it for a little while to take a walk. While in view, he sees that a a young child is in danger by walking on the track. Then he sees a train coming, should be pull the switch to stop the train from hitting the child or to save the child. Bob doesn’t think twice, his car is worth more than the life of a child.

Of course during his lifetime he thinks about the child as well. However, Bobs conduct is morally wrong. Never think twice of saving a child’s life, they are priceless to someone. Regardless of the situation as people we should never have to choose between live or death with people or nonsense items such as cars. We have to learn to choose our own destiny over donating to a charity.

In addition to the two stories, Singer presents information about two charities that take care of children in need. That would have been a great time to close the discussion on the essays but it continues on. In a second essay titled “Singer’s not-so Persuasive Solution to World Poverty”, writer Greg Schaefer takes perspective by summarizing it by taking information from the first information, but adding that we need to do more for charity.

Schaefer states that we should take the extensive extra income that people make and donate it to charity; stating that we don’t need more than 30% of our income. Basically it is like we have no needs for all income possible. Yet it makes sense to not spend money on useless items, it is a necessity to maintain an income for other reasons besides charity. Yes he does state that everyone should donate $200 to charity and help those in need. Great point, but the excessive attitude that states that we should just be broke is ridiculous. Singer did an explanation using math terms and examples, it is again dumb.

Schaefer and I agree that we need to donate to charity, but with Singers perspective I would rather have money in the bank than overloading charity buckets with money for my family. He has good deeds on donating to charity, but his argument is just annoying at the end. In the end, encouraging people to give to charities is a good step for starters and always remember people can’t be chosers.

Most of us have many more years of writing experience, though, and should be able to notice more changes. So, ask yourself the same question. How has your writing evolved? What changes have you noticed in your writing over time?

Through high school I hard the hardest time figuring what kind of writing stylist that I would be and never could figure it out. I was often confused on what I wanted to write about. Typically I had a case of brain amnesia and forget what I was going to say. Nevertheless, now with two active toddlers I still have that problem.

When I first started high school english I had the biggest problem figuring out how to even start the process of writing. I was confused and not able to understand what I was suppose to do, often feeling out of place. After high school I took a few years off, got married and had children, I enrolled at TCC and started with a few prepatory classes to help with my English because it was about 7 years since I was in a class setting. I felt that I compelled to actually write again and this time it felt good to do it. I was a little confused but it wasn’t as stressful but more at ease.

The changes that I have noticed since I started this class that English is still a little bit of a challenge for me, but not as hard as it used to be. I have seen alot of change when it comes to my thoughts and ideas of writing. It comes alot more naturally to me than it used to be, but there is still alot of writing challenges to work on. My last challenge is a challenge and it is to keep my writing skills up to par and be happy with the overall result once finished.

Part I

1.) The main issue that I have right now is the area that I live in has parking issues. In the housing area there are signs that say no parking and people don’t park there and don’t care. Why can’t I be able to park in front of my house properly. One time I got a parking ticket in front of my house, never could figure out why. There is no which way to where I should park in front of my house. Then I was stupid to realize ” Hey stupid you parked in front of a fire hydrant.”. Source of the problem, people need to park where they are suppose to and for me not to park in front of the fire hydrants, laugh.

2.) I have a problem with my son’s doctor. My son is a special needs little guy, he has a developmental delay that causes certain problems. However, I took him to the specialist a week and lady was ballsy enough to get loud/yell at me in front of my child. What right does a doctor have to yell at a patient in front of his/his parent. Oh I don’t think so. I kept my cool and walked out never looking back.

3.) The current conversation that I have going ono this week is over Kanye West insult regarding Taylor Swift’s win at the 2009 Video Music Awards. I have a problem with that big time. You have a 19 year old girl, who wins for the first time at the VMA’s and has the right to a acceptance speech, but doesn’t get that opportunity because Kayne West decides to take the microphone from her and says that “Beyonce has the best video this year”. I would have smacked him good. Afterwards hands her back the microphone and she just walks off the stand stunned. However, I am completely at t he end of the show when Beyonce won an award and let Taylor come back out to give her speech. in the end I was happy but still disappointed.

4.)Another situation that I am having is what school do I want to go to after I finish school at Tidwater Community College. How many people actually know what they want to do in life. I like so many subjects it hard to decide.

5.) I have another social issue regarding both of my children and thats potty training. Have mercy, who knew it would such a pain in the butt.

6.) What is with guys making promises to people and not fulfilling on the promise. I am watching a show on television and half the time the result of the court cases are from people breaking there promises.

7.) One major problem that I am having is my neighbor and her dog. I can’t figure out why she walks around all happy because she has a pit bull. Thats not the problem the dog is never leashed. I have a huge problem with owner of the animals and don’t do the right thing by putting restraints on them for the protection of children around them.

8.) I am going to buy a house in a year, but I don’t know where I will be living. Its that time again for my family to move again due to the military. We are going overseas and don’t know what type of environment we will be in at the new location.

9.) My husband is driving me nuts. Have anyone every knowed anyone who is a pack rat. I married to one, laugh. He doesn’t know how to get rid of anything. He thinks everything has some sort of value. I am like thinking everyday I need a bigger place. I live in a 1200 square foot home and with two children I am maxed out with no space left to put stuff, not to mention I need new furniture. Now he has a reason to get rid of stuff, but the question is will he.

10.) My final economic problem is the economy. I was watching my favorite morning show, The View, and they had a guest on whoh was talking about the current economic state. I can’t remember her name. She states that the economy is actually heading in a good direction. I find it extremely hard that the economy is heading in a good direction when people are still losing therejobs. It was just annouced yesterday that another major manufactuer was going to lay off approximately 12,000 jobs to cut and save approx. $1 billion per year. That is a decision that a company must make its called supply and demand. If company don’t make money then they will have to cut jobs and its hurts the economy. Bottom line is the economy is getting worse as the time goes by and there is nothing that anyone can do about it. We have to wait and see if the major business get there butts in gear and make a change to commit to the workforce to save people from going to having a home to homeless.

Part II ( Answers questions 1-6 about economic problems)

Time for a Change: The Appropriate Way

We all face trouble times in the world right now. As we see businesses close, that means its going to be more people on the street with nothing for them to hold on to. Currently the homeless shelters and banks are having a hard time figuring ways to help people during these diffficult processes. For banks, their are more people filing bankruptcy and foreclosing on there home. I have read and heard about these issues from many points of discussion from individual people to the internet. Someone how everyone is affected. The problem seems to have been an ongoing issue for many years and its probably just now that the government acknowledges the problems that they are being faced with the blame. Ultimately I believe the blame is George Bush for ruining our economy for 8 years and making bad decisions. He never made good intention on anything for people to live on. He just wanted people to believe in him and make him the President and make him smile. The position that I hold in this conversation is that I am a consumer. I believe I have the right to make decisions as far as what job I can do and where my financial obligations are. I support this decision because companies are at there own faults for not making the right financial decision to help benefit the company. Instead they try to improve business with money by either trading or selling out to the highest which in the end, who wins more the people who lost it all or the company’s CEO who makes too much money. What evidence supports this, the economy supports this. I can’t say all is good for anyone but in time a change is needed. We need to make sure that people have a home to go to and where parents can make sure that there children can go to school. I live in america, where I am suppose to feel free at all times, but in this financial debacle. I feel like my financial freedom was taken away.

Part III

One of the position held by me is a consumer. I should be able to put in effort of an opinion that states what I truly believe where the economy stands. If I am going to give my money to a company I would like to know where its going. The reason that I am stating this point is because I am a consumer with a strong opinion for my family and I. I don’t have an actual job due to motherhood, but overall I would say my biggest benefit is the insurance industry. We have milllions of people who get paid a crappy minimum wage because their employees don’t care to give the employees the best benefits possible. My biggest complaint I would have to say is big companies : Walmart, Kmart, Sears, etc. I have a huge problem with Wal-Mart is particular due to the fact that they pay men more than women it is a stated fact, because I was victim of it. Sometimes I wonder when that happens to someone what benefit does the company get out of it. There is nothing I can state more about these questions. Amongst confusion, I am a stay at home who right now wants to focus on her childrens future and take care of herself. However with proper insurance and benefits for those who can’t afford them thats the plan of action I see. One, make a insurance similiar to Medicaid for young men who can’t afford medical insurance and give low income families a chance for a better insurance coverage to go beyond limits of a regular insurance policy. The government in all needs to be reforms. Once they get there crap together maybe society will actually give a two cents.

Thanks for reading my post.

Truth or Dare

Part I

1. I believe that people…. Are one in in there own world, mind and creation. I believe that people will create a new society for people to learn from. I believe that people will create change.

2. I believe that society…. Is changing over time and will create a better life for society in the future. I also believe that society has a great need for a change to help the economy overturn the disastrous effect that it has on society now.

3. I believe that government…. can rule society for an economic downfall. I believe that we need a government that will create a society for stability and employment for people. I believe its time to readjustment the insurance policies to give better benefits to employees and their families to afford the proper coverage.

4. I believe that justice…. Is a fair statement for those that receive it. I believe that justice is served when a convict is convicted. I believe that justice will be ultimately served when is the war is over. I believe that justice is important for those who didn’t commit crimes but were unfairly charged during the last 50 years.

5. I believe that knowledge…. Is power. I believe that knowledge is a key to success. I believe that knowledge will guide in you in a right direction to find true greatness in life.

6. I believe that science…. that will help solve a crime. I believe that science create a new world for people to understand and that challenges can be solved thru science. I believe that science is a great subject for people to learn and understand.

7. I believe that reality…. Is just a television show for people to watch. I believe that reality is smarter than being scripted. I believe that reality shows imitate what young adolescences.

8. I believe that life…. Has its up and downs. I believe that life can lost when you least expect it, but live life to the fullest. I believe that life is great.

9. I believe that happiness…. is often misunderstood. I believe that happiness comes in all occasions: marriage, birthdays, births, etc. I believe that happiness is the best feeling in the world.

10. I believe that goodness…. achieves greatness. I believe that goodness is effectiveness.

11. I believe that death…. Introduces you to the path into heaven. I believe that death will always be sad but leave great memories for the one who passed on.

12. I believe that God…. Is great and will show me the way. I believe that god will help me thru these challenging times I am going thru right now. I believe that God will answer my question of what is wrong with me and still leaving the doctors puzzled after 6 months of unsolved questions.

Part II

“ I believe that government…”

1. What reasons can I think of to support my belief?
Well over the past couple of years I watched our former President George Bush take our country and just basically destroy the government and the economy all in 4 years. After September 11th, our eyes were opened to a devastated event in this country and the world. Then the war started overseas and then we hit a economic downfall. All of this is due to that I believe that the government down not take control that the problem we go thru as a country are handled improperly period.

2. What evidence supports my reasons?
The evidence that supports my reasons are economic support and decisions that were made by the government over the past 8 years. For example, over the past year the government approved billions of dollars to the automotive industry due to inappropriate decision making.

3. How was my belief formed?
This was not only my belief but with millions of people in the world that also supported the idea that the government is ridiculous. I believe that the government needs to get on tract to making decisions that are important to our country and to get people back into work into a stable environment.

4. What have I read or heard that has influenced or shaped my belief?
It has influenced my beliefs that have been majority correct, since this is what I believe and contrary that it will ever happen will only be told in time.

5. What have I seen or experienced that has influenced or shaped my belief?
I have seen the lost of thousands of jobs lost due to the inappropriate decision making on apart of our previous president, CEO’s, and the government. For example, in the town where my mom lives is a very rural country town in Tennessee, majority of the jobs are factory based. Due to the lack of work they closed all the factories in the area, total loss of 10,000 jobs. Now for a little town its not good, but one good outcome has since come out of it since the factory closures. Two of the factories were sold to foreign buyers and the factories have since reopened, but yet all isn’t well with the employees, they took a 35% pay cut because the new CEO’s wanted to save money. Its all about the economy and supply/demand with the government, business and CEO’s. I still call them a cheapskate.

6. How have these experiences led me to my present position?
My present position is mommy and personally don’t think that my 2 and 4 year old will care about anything except Dora, Elmo and Cars. Now if they took those products out of the store due to lack of supply and demand then I have a problem.

7. What effect does this specific belief have on the choices I make on a daily basis?

I make my choices everyday as a parent not on a economic or government based decision. However if I think politically about it then I can talk all day about it. I want to make choices that effect my future for education for my children and I. I want to make sure that I can financially afford it college for my children when its time. If the economy is not in a financial scrabble where they take away funding for programs like the Pell Grant than really I should have nothing to worry about, but for now I will about myself for now.

Part III

1. How would I describe one of the positions held by people who might disagree with me?
Well the only position that people would disagree with me over would have been the Presidential pick of George W. Bush. I would like to know what people in America was thinking. I believe that he was a total idiot for destroying our country. We might have had better luck with Al Gore than this brainiac, but that is just my view on his position. I flat out believe he is the worst president this country has ever had.

2. What reasons and evidence do people on the opposing side use to support their positions?
The people are the reasons and evidence of opposing his position. For example he created a hypothesis himself, by using an educated guess to see if the economical change that he proved that he would to help the economy, but in the economy it destroyed it.

3. What past experiences do people on the opposing side seem to share?

It really depends on the experiences of the people. People have variations of opinion some share their opinions and other don’t. Others seem confused like I am with these last set of questions.

4. How do their experiences seem to differ from mine?
There opinions are their own. While my opinions are my own.

5. Why might these experiences have led them to take their positions?
The people’s vote and dedication to believe in the eye of the beholder. Sometimes we make the right decision and other times we just make a decision based on what he want to hear from that opposing party.

6. Is there a set of experiences shared in common by people on each side of the
issue?
Just because we are people doesn’t mean that we won’t have our differences and also share a common agreement or idea like everyone does.

7. How do these differences influence how I will respond to their position on the issue?
These questions don’t change my opinion on how I respond to their position. I totally don’t understand questions 1-7. If anyone is thrown off I am sorry, but simply confused.

Thanks for reading~

In the end you will walk away learning something new.

Take care and have a good enjoy your week.
